Managing Workplace Issues: Free Workshops and Consultations
Illawarra Business Chamber and NSW Business Chamber, in conjunction with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, are presenting free educational workshops and one-on-one consultations to businesses across the Illawarra.
The half day workshops, open to all employers, will provide information and tools to help effectively manager workplace issues including compliance with termination laws.
The consultations, given by workplace relations experts, and designed for small to medium size constitutional corporations with fewer than 100 employees, will allow participants to access information which is more specific to their business.
“These sessions relate to unfair dismissals and unlawful terminations under the provisions of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 and good management practices for recruitment, performance management and conflict resolution,” said Illawarra Business Chamber CEO Mark Grimson.
“They will enable employers to better understand the practicalities of WorkChoices and what the new laws mean when it comes to performance management and the termination of employment.
“These sessions will provide employers with an understanding of fair and proper employment termination practices and range of legislation that applies in these situations.
“Terminating the employment of employees properly is a very important aspect of management responsibility. Managing the employment relationship can reduce the need to terminate employees and improve business performance.
“The workshops and consultations will improve your understanding and aim to help you improve the performance of your business and reduce the incidence of legal claims in the event employees have to be terminated.”
