Les Dion Elected New IBC President
Les said he felt honoured to be elected to the role of President particularly given the calibre of the people who sit at the Board table of the Illawarra Business Chamber.
“Having sat on the Board for the last four years, and having chaired the Membership & Marketing Committee and held the position of Junior Deputy President, he said he was looking forward to stepping up to the challenge and making a further contribution to the leadership of the organisation.
Les paid particular tribute to the contribution of outgoing President Terry Wetherall and Deputy President Janine Cullen for their contributions over many years.
He cited amongst the IBC’s many contributions its role in lobbying for the expansion for the expansion of the port of Port Kembla, its work with the Illawarra Apprenticeship Project, and lobbying for the establishment of a Minister for the Illawarra as some of its most recent major achievements in recent years.
At last night’s Board meeting, Eddy de Gabriele from the Edmen Group, 2006 Business Person of the Year was also elected to the position of Deputy President.
Les’s election comes after Terry Wetherall’s decision to step down as President following his election to the Board of the NSW Business Chamber last month.
