Business Awards Deadline Extented
The Illawarra Business Chamber today announced that the closing date for entries to the 2008 Integral Energy Illawarra Business Awards has been extended to 5:00pm on Friday 5th September.
IBC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mark Grimson said the extension has been provided for two primary reasons.
Firstly, a number of industry awards have or are currently being conducted, such as the Shoalhaven Business Awards and the Shoalhaven Tourism Awards, and IBC is keen to encourage entrants from these awards to enter the 2008 Integral Energy Illawarra Business Awards.
“We’ve had approaches from many businesses who want to enter the 2008 Integral Energy Illawarra Business Awards but have struggled to get the time to complete their applications. In fairness to them, we’re prepared to extend the closing date one week to provide them sufficient time for completion.
“Secondly, some changes to this year’s entry process has also resulted in some requests for extensions of time.
The IBC wants to the submission to be of the highest quality, so to be as fair as possible, extending the deadline will make it easier for more businesses to enter’, he said.
Mr Grimson stated that with a stream-lined judging process and the Awards Gala Ceremony on the 7th November, the extension of time was not going to impact upon any of the Awards processes themselves.
“What is of utmost importance is that the 2008 Integral Energy Illawarra Business Awards truly reflects the region’s business success stories. For that reason, any opportunity to ensure more businesses have the spotlight on their successes, the better,” said Mr Grimson.
