The Illawarra Business Chamber today launched the 2006 Integral Energy Illawarra Business Awards, recognised as the pinnacle event on the Illawarra Business’ calendar.

In this year’s event, outstanding enterprises in the region will vie for a total of 18 awards.  The winners of each Industry Category will also have the chance to take out the prestigious Integral Energy Illawarra Business of the Year Award at a prestigious ceremony to be held at the WIN Sports & Entertainment Centres in Wollongong on Friday, 17th November.

Today’s launch at the WIN Sports & Entertainment Centres was hosted by Terry Wetherall, President of the Illawarra Business Chamber and Richard Powis, Chief Executive Officer of the Awards’ naming rights sponsor Integral Energy.

 “With more than 900 guests expected to once again celebrate the successes of businesses in the Illawarra, the night promises to continue the tradition of being one of the most spectacular nights in the region’s social calendar,” Mr Wetherall said.

Mr Wetherall said entries were now open for all businesses located in the Illawarra Region as defined by the five local government areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee.  Local businesses now have 6 weeks to lodge their entry with the closing date being Friday, 8th September 2006.

Another innovation this year will be the ability for an individual or business to nominate another business, it may be a client or a supplier, but we will be encouraging people to nominate a local business that demonstrates excellence in what they do.

Mr Wetherall said the response for sponsorship opportunities this year has been one of the strongest in the history of the awards, primarily based upon the success of last year’s event.

Mr Wetherall paid special tribute to all sponsors for their continued support of the Awards in helping IBC make these one of the largest in regional Australia.
